How it works

At the start of the season, every U.S. county belongs to its nearest FBS program using county centroids and great-circle distance. After each completed game, the winner takes every county controlled by the loser. Ties, canceled games, and future games make no change. Same-week games are applied in deterministic game-ID order. The map preserves all 3,231 counties in every snapshot.
